Brisbane Gun Club – Monthly Trap Results (January 22, 2012)

What a weird and wonderful day to kick off the new year at Brisbane Gun Club. Today was our first monthly D.T.L. competition of 2012 and it was a blast! With a turnout of 48 shooters, we had 8 squads shooting and 3 traps, running fairly smoothly with a 3.45pm finish. The weather conditions were hot and humid, wind increasing in the afternoon and two annoying midmorning showers.

    The program was as follows:

EVENT 1: 25 Target 'Cash Divide' Point Score

EVENT 2: 50 Target Double Barrel

EVENT 3: 25 Target Point Score

EVENT 4: 15 Pair Double Rise

And the results were…

EVENT 1
Michael Bopf and Gavin Langridge, equal first in 'AA' Grade with scores of 75/75. First in 'A' Grade went to Mark Chounding with a score of 75/75, Luke Langridge and Don Portos coming in equal second with scores of 74/75. David Hogan took out first in 'B' Grade with a score of 74/75, followed by Sonny Joseph and Samantha Wilde, equal second with a score of 69/75. 'C' Grade's Vaughan McInnis won first prize with a score of 69/75, and close behind him, equal second were Phillip Neilson and Chris Clive with a score of 68/75.

EVENT 2
Wes Humphrey took first place in 'AA' Grade with a score of 117/117, Shane Smith coming in second with a score of 116/117. George Hogarth won first place in 'A' Grade with a score of 53/53, with Rick Itzstein shooting 52/53.  First in 'B' Grade went to David Hogan shooting 50/50, with Mason Jardine picking up second with a score of 49/50. And in 'C' Grade, first went to Vaughan McInnis again, 47/50, with Andrew Cantarella in second with a score of 45/50.

EVENT 3
First in 'AA' Grade went to Shane Smith shooting 75/75, and Paul Hill coming in close second shooting 74/75. Luke Langridge shot a 75/75, taking first place in 'A' Grade, and Rick Itzstein taking second with a score of 74/75. 'B' Grade went to Samantha Wilde, first with a score of 74/75, and Mark Davis taking second with 72/75. Once again we see Vaughan McInnis on the podium, taking first in 'C' Grade, 73/75 with Andrew Matthews taking second with a score of 69/75.

EVENT 4
Gavin Langridge took out first in 'AA' Grade with a score of 38/40, Shane Smith pulling in close second with a score of 37/40. 'A' Grade was won by Stewart Thompson with a score of 27/30, and Richard Wilde in second shooting 35/40. Rick Davies took out first in 'B' Grade with 23/30, and Stanley Kurkiewicz coming in second with a score of 22/30. 'C' Grade went to Andrew Cantarella with a score of 23/30, and Seb Patti scoring second place with 19/30.

Overall High Gun went to

Gavin Langridge, with a score of 225/230

'AA' Grade High Gun went to Shane Smith scoring 224/230

'A' Grade High Gun was Luke Langridge, shooting a score of 223/230

'B' Grade High Gun was won by David Hogan, shooting 215/230

'C' Grade High Gun went to Vaughan McInnis, scoring 204/230

Our Lucky Door Prize today (which is drawn at the start of the day, where all shooters with nominations submitted before 9.25am go in the draw to win back a shell for every target hit on the day. i.e. if you shoot a total score of 100/125 targets, you win back 100 cartridges!) was won by Bob McNamara, shooting a total of 109 targets of 130. Congratulations!

The Jackpot of $500 today was up for grabs in the sweepstakes, $10 for every target hit, but needing to shoot all 20 targets to win the jackpot. Today, Stanley Kurkiewicz was drawn however first time jackpot nerves got the better of him and unfortunately dropped his first target. Better Luck next time!

Stewart Thompson won the Meat Tray on offer today in our raffle, and Barry Wiseman took out second with a bottle of Jim Bean Small Batch!

Congratulations to all of our winners today, and for those who did not win a medal or prise: well done today, there was a lot of red numbers out there and the day was well shot all across the board. A special thankyou goes out to all the people that helped out today and made the day run smoothly: Paul Vitt, Shane Smith and Sonny Joseph on the traps, The Kitchen Helpers, your work is much appreciated, as well as Paul Hill and Samantha Wilde in the office and Richard Wilde our Trap Captain. Another big thankyou goes out to all the volunteer Referees and Scorers who stepped in today to help, we are always needing more people to step up and take this role when possible so thank you for your time and effort to help. New shooters and members are always welcome and encouraged to give our monthly shoots a go.

Once again, thank you to everyone for your help today, it is always much appreciated!
